First we played the game and now they are gonna give us the movie. As said before, this movie is based on the video game with the same name released on 2001. Max Payne, a cop in the NYPD, returns home one day to find his wife and baby daughter murdered at the hands of drug addicts, high on a designer drug called Valkyr. After 3 years of working on the case, Max and his best friend Alex go undercover to bust a V-deal. However, things go wrong: Alex is suddenly killed, and Max is framed for his murder. Hunted by the cops and driven by determination to avenge his family, Max Payne sets out to uncover the truths behind his family’s murder.

The Overview on the game:

This game is very interesting, not only for it’s plot but because of the style of the game. Max Payne have a major cinematic influence which is The Hong Kong action movie genre and a big influence is John Woo’s style, a Chinese film director. The game’s stylish cinematography and choreography is combined with heavy film noir, pulp noir, and pulp fiction influences in characters and dialogue. Rather than employing rendered or digitized cinematic movies for cutscenes, the story is told instead with “graphic novels” and narrated in the heavy-handed style of radio detective dramas such as Pat Novak for Hire. The games are dark and noir-style, following Max Payne, a troubled cop with internal and external conflicts in a dark, sinister New York City.

For those who are waiting for this movie, good news, the wait is over. The new Batman movie, The Dark Knight, is out in July 18 2008. The Dark Knight opens with Batman, Lieutenant James Gordon, and new district attorney Harvey Dent beginning to succeed in rounding up the criminals that plague Gotham City. They are unexpectedly challenged when a mysterious criminal mastermind known as the Joker appears in Gotham. Batman’s struggle against the Joker becomes deeply personal, forcing him to “confront everything he believes” and to improve his technology to stop the madman’s campaign of destruction.^[5] This is the last film of Heath Ledger. To those who don’t remember he was found dead at his New York apartment in January 22, 2008. He died from an accidental drug overdose.

Hoy, martes 22 de enero de 2008 se ha apagado una estrella en Hollywood. Hallan muerto al actor de 28 años, Heath Ledger en un apartamento de Nueva York. Se desconocen las razones verdaderas de su muerte. Entre las teorías se encuentran el suicidio o una sobredosis de dogras. Ledger deja a una niña la cual procreo con la también actriz Michelle Williams. Entre las películas de este actor se encuentran la nominada al Oscar “Brokeback Mountain”, “Ten Things I Hate About”, “Ned Kelly” y “A Knights Tale” entre otras. Además Heath Ledger interpretaría el papel de “Joker” en la nueva película de Batman, “Batman, The Dark Night”. Que descanse en paz este joven talentoso.

30 Days of Night está basada el “comic” de Steve Niles. La historia se desarrolla en un pequeño pueblo de Alaska llamado “Barrow” en el cual el sol se pone por un mes completo dejando a todo el pueblo en total obscuridad. De las entrañas de la obscuridad salen unas bestias diabólicas, podría decirse que son vampiros y se apoderan del pueblo.

Un mensaje que logré captar en esta pelicula es la situacion actual del mundo en que vivmos. Para explicarme mejor, por medio de los “vampiros’ y la obscuridad que se experimenta en el pueblo cada mes se representa la maldad, la pobreza, el hambre, el crímen y todo lo negativo que se vive en el mundo real día a día. Nos trata de decir como hemos dejado que todo lo negativo nos consuma y se propague. Es una excelente película, la manera en que está hecha y la acción que se experimenta.

La pelicula “The Warriors” salio para el año 1979. El filme trata de diferentes pandillas entre las cuales se encuentran “Los Warriors” los cuales son perseguidos por otras pandillas después de ser acusados de haber matado al lider de la pandilla mas grande de Nueva York, “Los Riffs“. Entonces “Los Warriors” tienen que luchar para llegar sanos y salvos desde el Bronx a Coney Island, lugar al que pertenecen.

En esta pelicula se ve reflejada la opresión a las personas pobres y la vida en la calle. Un factor muy importante de esta película es el caos que causo en el año 1979, en la ciudad de Nueva York. Se formaron más pandillas de las que ya había y se cometieron muchos crímenes por parte de jovenes queriendo imitar lo que veían en la película.
